In 1999 several Research Fellows at Harvard University and Massachusetts General
Hospital, frustrated with the online professional skin care offerings for women, set out to change the way women access information
and products on the
Web. They began by starting an Internet dial-up service, which evolved into
Giorgio Milan, an online exchange service for women which allows them to
obtain direct professional skin care products which until now could only be
obtain through their doctors offices. Limitation of distribution
in a fragmented market leads to exorbitant high prices which have been
maintained by the plastic surgeon or dermatologist who control 99%
of the distribution sources. The typical mark-up has been 100 -150%
which does not include the office fees which range fro 75 to 200 dollars per
visit.
In 2000, the site you see today,
GiorgioMilanSkincare.com, was launched with the goal of providing women with information,
expert advice, community and the ability to bypass their doctors for purchasing
professional grade skin care products at near wholesale prices on the Web.
More than 90% of our clients see their local plastic surgeon or
dermatologist for their initial visit and then their subsequent visit occur
at our exchange for purchase or replenishment of their skin care
products. Our customer base is international. To provide the client with the
lowest prices for cosmetic needs is still our goal
today.
